Unico Commits to Net Zero Carbon by 2050, aligning with ULI Greenprint Center for Building Performance net zero carbon operations goal
Unico proudly announces our commitment to ULI Greenprint’s net zero carbon operation goal. We join 33 other industry leaders in this formal dedication to reduce our real estate portfolio’s carbon emissions to net zero by 2050.
“Sustainable real estate built for the long-term is smart business. Unico has a long-standing commitment to sustainability. We are proud to align with ULI Greenprint’s net zero goal,” says Anita Jeerage, Unico’s Director of Sustainable Real Estate. “We understand the role our buildings and business have in fighting climate change. We are working to decarbonize our real estate and scale up our renewable energy use. Unico is honored to join this collective effort to reduce carbon emissions from the built environment.”
Unico’s sustainability department is deeply integrated into our real estate acquisition, development and property management services. As of November 2022, our portfolio has 36 LEED Certified properties, totaling 8.9 million square feet. We also have 36 Fitwel VR Certified properties, totaling 9.5 million square feet.
Additionally, Unico Solar Investors, a subsidiary of Unico that develops, owns and operates solar energy systems for our own real estate portfolio and third-party clients, produces 32.5 megawatts of solar energy, enough to power 6,500 homes.
