SEATTLE (JULY 5, 2023) – Employee-Led Community Giving Committee Organizes Company Volunteering Event to Combat Homelessness and Food Insecurity.
Unico Properties celebrated its annual ‘All Hands Day’ event, demonstrating its commitment to community engagement and addressing the pressing issues of homelessness and food insecurity. More than 225 dedicated employees came together from across Unico’s offices to support 11 local nonprofits across five states, aiming to make a significant impact in the communities they serve.
Organized by the employee-led Community Giving Committee, with sponsorship from members of the Executive Leadership team, the event exemplified Unico’s dedication to actively participate in the day’s activities and underscored the company’s commitment to social responsibility.
“I had a fantastic morning at Food Lifeline.” said Unico Properties CEO, Quentin Kuhrau. “Our group had a terrific experience!” Kuhrau and the group of Unico employees helped organize food which will be redistributed to those in need.
Andrew Cox, SVP Market Leader, shared a similar experience at Volunteers of America Mission in Denver, despite the logistical challenges posed by the Denver Nuggets’ celebratory parade for winning this year’s NBA Championship. Cox commented, “The Denver event was great too. It was complicated by the NBA Nuggets championship parade weaving through downtown, but the whole team was able to pivot and come together to host a BBQ for over 100 homeless individuals, while also cleaning and organizing the entire Mission facility. It was a pretty special event, and I felt fortunate to attend. Major kudos to the whole organizing crew.”
Lori Hill, SVP Investor Management, supported Plymouth Housing in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood and commended the coordination of the ‘All Hands Day’ initiative. Hill stated, “Kudos on AHD coordination. I had a great time at Plymouth Housing. Our team weeded and pruned every inch of their community garden.”
Courtney Jolicoeur, CFO, joined in the chorus of praise for the successful day and expressed her appreciation for partnering with Compass Housing Alliance for the second consecutive year. Jolicoeur shared, “I was so moved by the level of gratitude the residents showed us by providing refreshments to our team as we landscaped and cleaned the exterior areas around the community!”
All Hands Day serves as a powerful catalyst for ongoing conversations and community engagement, urging individuals to take action and work towards sustainable solutions for homelessness and food insecurity. Unico Properties remains committed to its corporate social responsibility initiatives and looks forward to building on the success of All Hands Day. The company also encourages employees to give back through offering paid time off for volunteering and its charitable giving match program.
