Over 220 Unico employees across the country participated in All Hands Day, a community service event held each October to support organizations who address an important need within our communities.
This year focused on affordable housing, homelessness, and food insecurity.
The impact and participation has grown considerably since the event was founded in 2018. To help drive growth, Unico sponsors All Hands Day as a regular workday for employees to encourage participation and help maximize service hours dedicated to local organizations.
“More than 13 million households are food insecure in the U.S. and 3.7 million lack secure reliable housing,” said Unico CEO Quentin Kuhrau. “Too many people in our own neighborhoods are represented in those numbers. Their struggle is often invisible to those around them. Unico is dedicated to helping those in our communities who are going through hardship during this collective crisis.”
For employees, the annual service day is more than volunteer work. It offers an opportunity to engage with and understand communities where they live and work, many of which are still trying to rebuild after the pandemic.
“This year’s focus on affordable housing, homelessness, and food insecurity is especially critical given what we have all seen happen to our downtown city centers the past few years,” said Kuhrau. “So much work still has to be done to help rebuild our downtown business cores. I am proud that Unico is out in force playing a small but important role in helping our cities get back on their feet.”
In line with its dedication to fighting homelessness and food insecurity, Unico’s 2022 All Hands Day has delivered support to 11 organizations working to create brighter futures for the most vulnerable in our communities.
