SEATTLE (May 16, 2024) – Unico’s Community Giving Committee Organizes Annual Company-Wide Day of Volunteering to Help Local Non-Profits
Unico Properties held its annual All Hands Day where employees take the day to volunteer within the communities the company serves. Led by the company’s Community Giving committee, nearly 200 employees came together in Seattle, Portland, Denver, Nashville and Salt Lake City to spend the day working with organizations focused on solving the housing and need for food assistance crisis impacting so many.
Unico Properties CEO Quentin Kuhrau said, “Each year as a company we take pause and focus on how we can better the communities we serve with acts of service. I am happy to see that we are continuing our work with organizations focused on affordable housing, homelessness and food insecurity.”
“All Hands Day is a reminder that Unico is more than just a place that we all come to work each day. It is a company that celebrates its people and invests in the health and vitality of our communities”, shares Dan Lowen, Senior Vice President Portfolio Management, who may need to take pause on enjoying French Fries for the near future. “I was so proud to join the Denver team at Food Bank Of The Rockies and see their spirit and dedication at work for such a worthy cause. Though I may never be able to look at another potato without a twinge of PTSD and a backache, I still can’t wait to come back for more next year!”
Unico’s Chief Financial Officer, Courtney Jolicoeur was able to introduce the value of giving back to those in needs by sharing the day with her daughter. “This year’s All Hands Day was both successful and memorable, thanks entirely to the incredible efforts of our team. On a personal level, I had the opportunity to bring along my own 8-year old helper, exposing her to the role each of us play in our communities. It is always inspiring to see our teams actively supporting sustainable, safe, and healthy local communities around our properties and this year I walked away feeling so proud about the tangible impact we made and so grateful to be able to share these efforts with my daughter. I left with a renewed sense of purpose about what I can do personally the other 364 days of the year.”
All Hands Day is more than just a day to take pause on work and support organizations doing important work for it’s communities; it’s a day for employees to feel empowered by the gift of giving back and how working together can give cause to the greater good. All employees are encouraged to continue volunteering with company provided volunteer hours each year and carry on the impact of service for those in need.
